After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree, I spent the next several years building one of the most efficient coin collectible company, servicing the some of the country’s largest mail order houses in the collectible industry. Running a warehouse and fulfillment center with a staff of more than 50 employees was no easy task. But the hands-on training gave me a leg up in the world of warehouse logistics, employee management and workforce integration.
Having the experience of working with so many diverse individuals allowed me to learn and achieve a successful working relationship with people from all walks of life. That decade of hard work paved the path for my next journey.
Having reached a buying threshold of immediately joined. Although a family-owned business, I started from the bottom and worked my way up. Back to the shipping department and learning the business from the core of the operation. Managing international trade shows and traveling the world, I enjoyed meeting with high-ranking government officials from all corners of the globe.
The Intergovernmental Philatelic Agency, IGPC is the world’s largest international postal agency. Founded in 1957 and acquired by our family in 1971, IGPC grew quickly with the responsibility of design, production and worldwide marketing and distribution of more than half the world’s postage stamps in circulation. Within a few years I was handed the responsibility of the buying group of all commodities with an aggregate annual purchasing of more than a hundred million dollars!
It was then time to trim the fat and focus on cost savings to bring an already profitable company to new heights. Working with the internal accounting team, we cut spending by more than 20% and raised the pre-tax profit without affecting the infrastructure of the company.
The real estate and financial group of the business continues to flourish today, navigating the bullish and bear markets being faced in turbulent times.
